Access Capabilities
Vertical Access was established to develop industrial Rope Access methods and apply them to various commercial and industrial projects. Throughout our 35 years of business, we have been constantly evolving and expanding our methods, so that we can now safely and confidently provide a wide range of access systems to best suit the needs of our clients.
Rope Access
Rope access is a highly efficient and versatile method to use when working at height or in difficult-to-reach areas using specialised climbing and descending techniques. Originating in the UK and led by pioneers such as Vertical Access Ltd, Rope Access is recognised worldwide for its commitment to safety, primarily through its affiliation with IRATA International. This method ensures that technicians are expertly trained and adhere to strict safety protocols, providing a reliable solution for various industries, including construction, maintenance and inspection. Please contact us today to find out more information surrounding the benefits of Rope Access or you can read more below.
Contract Specific Access
We specialise in bespoke access systems to meet your requirements. This can include setting up safe work systems for our teams of skilled operatives to carry out the service, or provide bespoke WAH training, supervision and rescue cover.
- Management & Control of Work-at-Height Sites and Tasks
- Creating Safe Systems of Work for Working-at-Height
- Production of Risk Assessments, Method Statements & Emergency Arrangements
- Provision of On-site Support Teams or Additional Workforce
MEWP & Spider Access Platforms
We are able to use a wide variety of mobile access work platforms to provide access to structures & buildings where these access platforms can improve safety and productivity. We can design and undertake contracts where these mobile platform systems are used to access a building or structure. We can then utilise other WAH systems such as Rope Access to gain entry to remote or complex locations. The company has personnel trained by the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) and who have experience in the operation of:
- Driver-Operated Truck-Mounted Platforms
- Self-Drive Mobile Access Platforms
- Spider Access Platforms
- Road Rail Vehicle
- Telehandlers & Personal Fall Protection Cages
Cradles & Suspended Access Platforms
Vertical Access can design and install cradles and suspended access platforms that comply with BS 5974:2017 standards. Our highly trained team provides custom solutions for challenging environments, offering specialised platforms where traditional systems fall short. We collaborate with specialist structural engineers to ensure all designs are safe and reliable.
With robust anchor systems and in-house testing, like our replica roof for the Manchester Town Hall Extension, we guarantee precision and excellence. Choose us for innovative and dependable access solutions, where we can utilise our skills to deliver the necessary site works with these access systems.
Tower Scaffolds
Where other access methods like cradle, MEWP, and rope access are not suitable and tube and fitting scaffold may be impractical or too costly, The company can supply PASMA-trained operatives and tower scaffold to enable safe and efficient delivery of your project. Tower scaffold is a lightweight standalone system that is simple to install with minimal impact on your building and building users. There are limitations regarding maximum height internally and externally, which can be assessed by our technical team on site.
Scaffolding
To broaden our access to working at height systems the company has approved suppliers of scaffolding services that have been used on a variety of contracts. We have also utilised Envirowrap systems for coatings contracts that had to be undertaken in winter. We have a qualified scaffold inspector who undertakes the mandatory weekly inspections of scaffolding.
Roof Access & Safety Systems
We supply and install fall protection systems for roofs and structures to help keep our clients compliant with the working-at-height regulations and to keep their workers safe. British and European Law requires that your height safety equipment and fall protection systems are inspected and tested at regular intervals by a competent person. Regular competent person checks ensure that your fall protection equipment is in good working order and compatible, thereby protecting workers who rely on it when working at height and extending its service life, adding financial value. We can carry this out and provide all necessary reports and certificates.
Confined Spaces
Confined spaces pose significant risks, making strict adherence to procedures and proper training essential. At Vertical Access, our dedicated team of operatives is highly trained and experienced in managing both medium and high-risk confined spaces. Our confined space manager is skilled in creating tailored safe work systems and ensuring their implementation. With hands-on experience in challenging environments, he understands the complexities and dangers of confined spaces firsthand.
