Inspections & Surveys
Our Inspection & Survey teams are specially trained to identify potential construction failures, building defects and structural hazards. Using our specialist team, we will provide you with a comprehensive inspection or survey service. This includes an in-depth report detailing all findings and recommendations to meet compliance regulations, mitigating potential risks and planning future maintenance works.
Structural Condition Survey
We haveover 30 years of experience in conducting surveyson a variety of structures, including fire escapes, chimneys, overbridges and facades. Our skilled surveyors have a fine eye fordetail and once thesurvey is carried out, we begin developing detailed reports itemising defectswith fault locations marked on either elevation plans or drawings and with asupporting photograph. Recommendationsfor repairs can then be made by our Structural Team who areoften available to complete the job for you rapidly and efficiently. Wecan also provide structural monitoring including crack monitors and survey taginstallation
Concrete Inspection & Testing
Our team can provide detailed inspections of concrete facades, soffits and other built concrete structures. Inspections can be as simple as a health and safety knock-off to remove any loose or dangerous material or include a detailed report with fault locations marked on drawings and photographs. Samples can be taken for chloride content analysis, depth of carbonation and depth of concrete cover, all of which can be assessed at difficult-to-access locations.
Drone Survey
With the ability to reach even the most inaccessible, hazardous areas or large-scale sites, our UAV drone survey teams use the latest technology to provide a wide range of highly accurate survey data and high-resolution imagery. Drone surveys are carried out with minimal impact to your building or building users without additional costs which would be required to physically access your roofs or structure safely. Tailored to suit our client’s needs, our drone surveys provide you with more than enough information to plan effectively for future work.
Cladding Inspection
Our inspection team can provide independent and thorough cladding inspection services across multiple sectors including industrial, commercial, public, and residential buildings. Our inspections are carried out by skilled, experienced and qualified technicians who will assess and utilise the safest and most efficient access approach to carry out your inspection. Inspections can be carried out via various methods including rope access, MEWP, cradle or scaffold. Following the inspection, our clients will receive an in-depth report which includes an accurate defect list and remedial recommendations.
Defect Monitoring
Sometimes, instant repairs require additional time to plan or secure additional monies or it may not be practically possible or required. As a control measure, working alongside your structural engineers, we can access hard-to-reach areas where we can carry out surveys including taking accurate measurements and installing crack monitoring equipment or survey targets. All of these will allow you to assess the rate of degradation and assess if further control measures are required.
Roof Survey
Maintaining your roof is of utmost importance. Neglecting roof maintenance could be costly and could create health and safety issues. The roof survey team will plan safe access to your roof which will allow us to safely and efficiently conduct our survey, minimising impact on your building, building users and members of the public. Our teams are trained to identify defects & record accurate defect information. Once all information is obtained from the site survey, it will then be populated into a report. Defects will be categorised with defect locations and quantities provided. Remedial recommendations and associated costs can also be provided upon request.
Leak Detection Survey
A leaking roof can be an extremely expensive and damaging problem to repair. Even with regular maintenance, it is difficult to predict when and where a leak will strike. However, we now offer a new, innovative electronic leak detector that can detect even the smallest pinhole leak in a flat roof, alerting you to any issues before the damage spreads. The electronic leak detection system is a non-invasive way of identifying any defects in the membrane of your commercial or industrial flat roof. It is accurate to the millimetre, meaning that we can quickly locate the source of the problem. Following this we can carry out remedial repairs for you.
Roof Ladder Inspection
Our team can carry out roof ladder inspections as part of your pre-planned maintenance regime and provide detailed reports to ensure compliance. Our current contracts include inspecting ladders across various structures including heritage buildings, universities, hospitals, factories, industrial complexes and stadia.
Fall Protection System Inspection & Testing
We supply and install fall protection systems for roofs and structures to help keep our clients compliant with the working-at-height regulations and to ensure their staff’s safety. The regulations require that your height safety equipment and fall protection systems are regularly inspected and tested by a competent person. Regular competent-person checks ensure that your fall protection equipment is in good working order and compatible, protecting workers who rely on it when working at height. These checks can also extend its service life, adding financial value. Vertical Access can carry out and provide all necessary reports and certificates.
Fire Detection System Inspection
Smoke detectors or sprinkler systems are usually installed at the early stages of a build when access is straightforward. Once a building is occupied, various things like racking, ductwork and machinery/plant are installed underneath these locations making access to these locations complicated and costly. Following a site visit, we can assess access possibilities and plan to install a safe system of work which allows plant & racking etc. to remain whilst our operatives can access safely and efficiently. Working alongside your fire engineer, we can perform smoke tests, provide condition reports and offer remedial recommendations as required.
Confined Space Inspection
Working in confined spaces can mean exposure to dangerous and life-threatening hazards, therefore correct training is essential to create a safe working environment. Employers have a legal requirement to ensure their employees are trained and a duty of care to ensure the training provided is appropriate for the work being undertaken. Our skilled operatives are trained in confined space entry and can carry out your servicing or survey requirements in these difficult-to-access and hazardous places. Vertical Access Ltd has a long history of conducting successful projects in a wide range of contrasting voids, shafts, mines, tunnels and culverts.
Digital Management System
By using our malleable bespoke digital management system, we can implement close, near real-time management of projects, ensuring company-wide compliance.
This can catalogue all necessary data, such as drill and core logging, inspection management, installation management and other data monitoring. This bespoke system can be tailored to suit many of your asset management and project management requirements. As part of this method, we have innovated a flexible tagging system, which allows our operatives to scan any faults or assets. These small and discreet tags immediately link to our online recording system, bringing up all relevant photographs and documents. The operative can then edit or create a new record for the fault/ asset. This makes re-inspection quicker and more accurate than ever before.
This system can be used over a wide range of applications from individual tagging of assets to tagging of anchors, building faults, bolt connections or fall protection systems.
