Approved Supplier: Centaur
Vertical Access Ltd are a proud & approved supplier of Centaur Liquid Roof Coating Products
Who are Centaur and What Do They Do?
The basis of Centaur’s innovation in reinforced liquid roofing systems lies back in the 1970’s and their development by Bob Stanfield who later became Centaur’s first R&D Director. The approach taken was to significantly increase the tensile and other physical characteristics of the applied material making the products more durable and allowing them to provide a product/service with a lifespan in excess of other materials available at that time.
The key to success lay in selecting a random glass fibre reinforcing mat instead of the non-conformable and more time-consuming fleece materials that are currently used in many other liquids. This led to the introduction of liquid coating systems that could be moulded to the contours of the roof without the need for more complex and time-consuming cutting and detailing of the reinforcing fleece, thus reducing contract times and costs.
The products were initially twin-pack polyurethanes and then progressed to single-pack systems that for the first time incorporated innovative moisture triggers (giving earlier resistance to rainfall) systems that were developed through the 80’s and 90’s and into the new millennium.
The Current Generation of Centaur Liquid Roof Coating Products Include:
Centech PU represents the next generation in fluid-applied roofing systems. The first moisture-triggered, hybrid, polyurethane liquid roofing system combining the strengths of both aromatic and aliphatic technology – cost-effective, fast cure, low odour and extremely durable.
Centech PU has been formulated to be one of the safest polyurethane roofing systems available in the market today. Research and development identified free monomer as a potential risk to users and eradicated this risk by using the very latest monomer-stripped prepolymers. This has resulted in a material that is among the safest in the industry with consequent benefits to installers and other users alike.
Centech PU is a single-pack polyurethane which utilises advanced technology and includes monomer-striped prepolymers resulting in a safer roofing product with an extremely low odour.
Centech PU utilises a complex moisture trigger mechanism that makes it immediately resistant to rainfall allowing contractors an extended opportunity to apply the product and thus complete projects on time and within budget.
Centech PU is used in their 10, 15, 20 and 25 year cold applied liquid waterproofing systems. When reinforced with Centech GFM glass fibre mat.
Centech PU cures to form an incredibly tough polyurethane membrane designed to be used on a wide range of roofs for both existing and new build work.
System Benefits
• Low odour
• Immediately resistant to rainfall
• Single pack
• Guaranteed Systems available
• Seamless and joint free
• Conformable reinforcement
• Completely resistant to ponding water
• Vapour permeable
A full range of primers are available which allow Centech PU systems to applied to almost all existing substrates including metal, single ply membranes and concrete.
Centech SA Carrier/VCL is a self-adhesive multilayer aluminium lined carrier and vapour control layer combined. The product is used in conjunction with the Centech SA Membrane Primer. Centaur’s dual usage membrane eases the pressure on the contractor to stock two membranes and allows the inter-change of the carrier and VCL should the contractor run short of either membrane whilst working on a project.
The roll size is 1.080m x 40m resulting in an area size of 43.2m² per roll. Roll weight is approximately 26kg and the membrane thickness is 0.6mm.
Centaur Quality Partnership Contractors
Centaur are dedicated to working with clients throughout the entire process from initial inspections to the completion of the project.
The company work with a specially selected group of contractors including Vertical Access Ltd who have undergone a stringent vetting process before being allowed to join the Centaur Quality Partnership. These criteria are designed to ensure that they are not only able to achieve the highest standards of installation, but that they also meet a range of other requirements from organisation and management to their ability to match the high standards set by Centaur Technologies when on-site.
Centaur are dedicated to working with clients and selected contractors to ensure that roofs, once completed, deliver trouble-free performance and fully meet expectations.
Inspection & Specification
Centaur will undertake a thorough inspection of the roof, including core sampling and gathering of photographic evidence. Following discussions with the client Centaur will undertake the following:
• Preparation of a bespoke roof inspection report including:
• Current condition of the roof
• Any specific areas of concern
• Full specification detailing:
• Preparation including any remedial works
• Installation of insulation, if required
• Priming and sealing
• Methods of application
• Specific treatment of details and penetrations including CAD drawings
• Coverage rates
