Decothane Flat Roofing Systems

Prior to the development of low-odour products the use of solvent based liquid applied waterproofing provided significant challenges in relation to the vapour emitted during and for a period after application, which is a result of the product’s drying and curing processes. The impact of this odour included ventilation systems, air conditioning units and people in or around the buildings.  

To overcome this Sika LP undertook a significant product development programme to achieve a successful outcome without compromising other aspects, such as how the products can be applied on-site or the type of mat reinforcement that can be used. Through careful engineering and innovation, Sika have developed low-odour systems using patented technology to enable use on highly sensitive sites, such as hospitals, food manufacturing plants, universities, schools, stadia and entertainment venues.

Sika & Liquid Plastics have been manufacturing high-performance protection and waterproofing systems for over 50 years, this has included the design, manufacturing technology & production of Decothane Ultra, their flagship product.

Decothane Ultra®

Decothane Ultra is a high-performance, polyurethane coating, which rapidly becomes resistant to rain damage, it is cold-applied and cures to form a completely seamless waterproof membrane. These product benefits have enabled liquid waterproofing to become the fastest-growing sector of the flat roofing market.

Decothane Ultra establishes a new benchmark amongst single-pack polyurethanes and presents significant application opportunities for architects, specifiers and contractors, to use liquid waterproofing within niche and specialised markets.

Decothane Ultra Basecoat is a 1-part, low-odour, cold-applied, elastic, polyurethane base coat. It incorporates Sika's unique i-Cure technology, key features include:

• Embedment rates, at 1.25-1.5 l/m2

• Ease of application (year-round), even at lower temperatures

• Faster break-down of Reemat glass fibre matting

• Faster cure

• On smaller sites, there is the possibility for same-day over-coating

Decothane Ultra Topcoat

Decothane Ultra Topcoat is a 1-part, l, cold-applied, elastic, polyurethane finishing coat. It incorporates Sika's unique i-Cure technology, key features include:

• Embedment rates, at 0.5-0.75 l/m2

• Ease of application (year-round), even at lower temperatures [ +2 to +40 centigrade ] and humidity [ 20-85% ]
